Stephen Jones is one of the most influential milliners of our time. He emerged as a defining figure in London’s vibrant fashion scene of the late 1970s. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Jones quickly gained recognition for his distinctive and imaginative approach to millinery, first capturing attention at the legendary Blitz nightclub in London.
In 1980, he opened his first millinery salon in Covent Garden, which swiftly became a destination for an eclectic and distinguished clientele — from royalty to rock stars. His work, known for its exceptional craftsmanship, inventive silhouettes, and modern sensibility, continues to shape the language of contemporary millinery.
Over the past four decades, he has collaborated with many of the world’s most renowned designers and brands, including Comme des Garçons, Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, and Thom Browne. His hats have graced international runways, royal events, and the covers of leading fashion publications, earning a place in the permanent collections of institutions such as the V&A in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Louvre in Paris.
The Palais Galliera, the fashion museum of the city of Paris, dedicated a solo exhibition to the creative talent of Stephen Jones in 2024/2025.
Today, Stephen Jones Millinery operates from a Georgian townhouse in London, housing his design studio, boutique, and atelier. In addition to his couture work, Jones designs the Miss Jones and JonesBoy diffusion lines, bringing his visionary millinery to a wider audience.
